PPP Celebrates National Book Week with Buk Bilong Pikinini

To celebrate National Book Week 2022 we hosted the book launch of “When I Grow Up, I Want to be an Architect” thatis part of the When I Grow Up Series, a publication by BukBilong Pikinini. The book features Pacific Palms Property’s former Graduate Architect, Vanessa Kagena (who is currently pursuing her studies at Osaka University in Japan, majoring in Global Architecture) and Christabella Rataga from the Pari library.

Representation is important and this series provides powerful imagery to encourage a love for reading and lifelong learning. Literacy and access to quality education are vital in improving every aspect of a person. We are proud and humbled to be featured in this series as we believe in the values that come with being able to read, the world comes alive through words. We also think that children see themselves represented in these pages it affirms to them that anything is possible.

We are delighted to have hosted 21 little readers from the libraries in Pari and Vabukori.

The little readers went on a tour of our Harbourside Serviced Offices, to give them a feel of the building features and the service offered, then proceeded on to a reading session led by Jonathan Hamblin, Business Development Manager at Pacific Palms Property. The little readers then got creative by painting and constructing small building projects with the help of staff from Steamships, Pacific Palms Property, and BukBilong Pikinini.

This was then followed by the presentation of the book launched from BukBilong Pikinini to Pacific Palms Property – Jonathan Hamblin, Emily Ipi, and Cynthia Chapman from Pacific Palms Property received the launched book series on our behalf.

Since 2009 Steamships have a long-standing partnership with BukBilong Pikinini, and Pacific Palms Property as a business division of Steamships, we are happy to be part of this initiative.
